how could I be happy on a day like today
when i can't even breathe
i should put myself away and run
how could i feel lucky gettin' what i just received
took it in the ass
all that gravel and broken glass
those are scars that last
does this make it over? i know.
come down, breathless heather -- i know
soggy little nothings, that's all they really are
rotted too long in there
better give them all some air
they're just lies
i have told a couple
now that's a lie right there, i've told so many more
but i'm not keeping score
god, i love your smile
does this make it over? i know.
come down, breathless heather -- i know

let's hear it for the boy!

camping adventures

So I went on a fun camping adventure a few weeks ago with some pretty cool friends. We had a lot of fun. We had a few mishaps along the way, but overall it was awesome. We got rained on the first night and the first camping site we were given was a parking lot. However we were able to get ourselves a nice little spot on the beach and the weather cleared up enough to enjoy some time on the boat. I was hit by a car yesterday when I was riding my bike, which has nothing to do with the camping trip, except as I was laying here in bed I remembered I picked up the film before I was hit down, so it was in my backback. I like that I was able to edit through the images while stuck in bed. I only took one roll with me camping and I sort of regret that because I wish I had more photos to look at now. I only took one on purpose though because sometimes when I have my camera I tend to stand "outside" of what is going on and look at everything as a potential photograph instead of just enjoying the events and people around me. I wanted to make sure I had fun, so I limited myself to one roll.

Anyway, had a great time and here is some advice from me to you: Don't get hit by a car. It sucks and is scary.

i like it when good things happen to me

So since this is mostly a photography blog, well photography/heather rambling blog, I try not to use photographs that aren't mine. Unfortunately I have never been to Hawaii so I can't use one of my own for this blog entry. Not yet anyway...

I recieved an email from United Airlines today that included an apology for the way I was recently treated by their employees at the Denver Airport and a voucher for a free roundtrip ticket to anywhere in the US! So I only got this email about 30 minutes ago but I think I have already officially decided that I'm fucking going to Hawaii! I'm so excited for me! I contacted United after I returned home from Colorado and made a complaint about the way they treated me. I didn't expect to hear anything back from them at all. It was more just about venting really. I mean how often do huge ass companies do anything to make it right, let alone an airline company?! I'm impressed United. I take back what I said at the end of my complaint, which was something along the lines of "I wouldn't fly with you again if it were free!"

So yeah I'm thinking most likely Hawaii. As far as places I have always wanted to go, Hawaii has always been one of the tops for me. I've always wanted to take surf lessons there. I've got it in my head that I would be really good at surfing. This is mostly based on the fact that I can ride the buses and trains here in Chicago without holding onto anything and not fall down. Clearly a good surfer in the making right? I've always been a good swimmer too. As much as I love the water and oceans, beaches have always been a bit of an uncomfortable situation for me with my pale skin and self-confidence isses, but fuck it. I'm just going to make myself get over that, go to Hawaii, and have an awesome time!

hula hooping!
